Summary By Sara Platte:

From Kale smoothies to Hot Hula, over 300 Sacred Hearts Academy families went on a fascinating wellness journey at the school's first "5210 Family Wellness Festival." Families received a "Wellness Journey Passport" and traveled to three "zones" to explore new ideas about family wellness. In the "Get Fresh" zone, students met farmers from Aloun, Nalo and Kahuku Farms, who donated fresh produce, demonstrated healthy recipes that kids enjoy, and gave away produce bags. KCC's Daniel Leung made fruit look a whole lot more fun, with the Monkey Fruit demonstration. The "Get Moving" zone featured fun ways to explore family fitness with Hawaii Speed and Quickness, Smart Karate, various martial arts, and fun new ways to dance including hot hula and zumbatronics. The "Get Smart" conference room offered a wealth of information from Dr. Shari Kogan, Dr. Kalani Brady, Umeke Market Michelle Yamaguchi and even Mrs. America, SHA Alumna Lara Fononimoana! Of course the 5210 booth promoted the virtues of breakfast and sleep. It was a full day for families who pledged to begin or continue healthier lifestyles!
