Hawaii Obesity Numbers at a Glance

Accoriding to The State of Obesity: Better Policies for a Healthier America, Hawaii has the thrid lowest adult obesity rate (22.7%) and twenty-fourth highest high school obesity rate (12.9%) in the nation.

Since 1990, the adult obesity rate has climbed from 8.9% to 22.7% while the high school obesity rate has been on a steady decline since 2007 (from 15.2%).

Though Hawaii is ranked the third lowest state in the nation for adult obesity, Hawaii is one of the other 21 states with adult obesity rates rank between 20-30%. Twenty-five other states are over 30% while only four states exceed 35%.
