Hawai'i 5210 Let's Go! at the 4th Annaul Ka'a'awa Health Fair
On Wednesday November 21st 2018, Ka‘a‘awa Elementary School held their 4th annual Health Fair. Hawaii 5210 Let’s Go! took part in the program by covering the importance of choosing healthy foods in order to keep their heart health and blood pressure in check. Students were also able to practice looking at snack food nutrition labels in order to make better decisions about what they put into their bodies.
Students in the Kindergarten through 3rd Grade classes were able to play a quick game of nutrition food label reading to determine whether a food would contribute to “blocking” their arteries or would allow their arteries to stay “open.”
The fourth grade through sixth grade students were challenged with computing the high amounts of sodium in some of their favorite snack foods, to include doritos, beef jerky and li hing candies.
