A recent $90,000 grant from the city and donations gathered by the Ewa Beach Community Based Development Organization (CBDO) has made possible the re-building of an old playground in Ewe Beach Community Park. Last year the city had to remove the previous old playground because it was deemed unsafe. So, the Ewa Beach CBDO went ahead and built the new Explorer Dome in place of it. "We just said you know what we want to have a healthy community so lets give them something different," said Christiane Bolosan-Yee, the Ewa Beach CBDO president. "We knew that we wanted to get an apparatus that would challenge our kids and do something different for them." The Ewa Beach group hopes to raise more money to install another playground in the area. The mission of the Ewa Beach Community Based Development Organization is to initiate and support enrichment opportunities for the Ewa Beach community. The Ewa Beach CBDO is meant to fill the needs of the community as identified by their community.
